CONSERVATION

There are currently over 2400 taxa of terrestrial invertebrates regarded as of conservation concern. In addition, of the hundreds of plants listed as threatened or endangered most have never had their pollinators identified (Buchmann and Nabhan, 1996). To try to save plants without protecting their pollinators may be an exercise in futility. Many may still go extinct without a more complete understanding of these interactions.
